PLN 1 Billion in Funding for Home Energy Storage Systems
Dear Sir or Madam,
Applications opened on 20 October 2026 for prosumers with renewable energy micro-installations connected to the electricity grid. The maximum funding may reach PLN 19,000.00 per Electricity Consumption Point, while the total budget allocated by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management to the ‘Home Energy Storage Systems’ programme is PLN 1,000,000,000.00. Applications will be accepted until 1 October 2027 or until the available funds are exhausted.
I.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR THE ‘HOME ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS’ PROGRAMME
Funding is available to individuals generating electricity for their own needs who are parties to a comprehensive agreement or an electricity sales agreement governing the supply to the grid of electricity generated by a renewable energy micro-installation. Support covers equipment installed in a residential building or on a plot containing both a residential building used for the Applicant’s own needs and the renewable energy micro-installation. Individuals are excluded from the programme if their comprehensive agreement or electricity sales agreement concerns the supply to the grid of electricity generated by a renewable energy micro-installation as part of business activities carried out at the address where the micro-installation and the associated equipment to be funded, namely an electricity or heat storage system, are located. The comprehensive agreement or electricity sales agreement must therefore not relate to business activities conducted by the Applicant.
Funding reimburses the costs of purchasing and installing an electricity storage system with a minimum nominal capacity of 10 kWh whose notification has been confirmed by the Distribution System Operator (DSO), as well as purchasing and installing a heat storage system. In addition, where necessary to ensure that an existing renewable energy installation can operate with the energy storage system, funding may be obtained for the purchase or replacement of an inverter or the installation of another device enabling such operation.
To obtain funding for an energy storage system, the Applicant must have a renewable energy micro-installation connected to the electricity grid (on-grid). If the Distribution System Operator confirms that the installation operating with the electricity or heat storage system submitted for funding is off-grid, funding will not be awarded.
The programme only reimburses costs already incurred for purchasing equipment. Funding is therefore not available for installations that are merely planned or for equipment for which only an advance payment has been made. The cost eligibility period begins on 1 November 2025 and runs until the funding application is submitted. All expenditure must be incurred, the equipment installed and the equipment notified to the Distribution System Operator (DSO) within this period.

FUNDING AMOUNTS
Funding for an energy storage system takes the form of a grant covering up to 30% of eligible costs, with support capped at PLN 800.00 per 1 kWh of nominal storage capacity. For applicants using net-billing, or those who have switched from net-metering to net-billing, the maximum grant is PLN 16,000.00 per energy storage system. For Applicants using net-metering, the maximum is PLN 8,000.00.
Funding for purchasing and installing a new inverter is up to PLN 2,000.00, but may not exceed 50% of the equipment’s eligible costs. To qualify for support, the inverter must have been manufactured in the European Union.
Funding for purchasing and installing a heat storage system covers up to 30% of eligible costs, capped at PLN 1,000.00 per system. Total support covering an electricity storage system, a heat storage system and, where the relevant conditions are met, an inverter may reach PLN 19,000.00.

WHERE TO APPLY FOR FUNDING?
Funding applications may only be submitted electronically through the Funding Application Generator (GWD): https://gwd.nfosigw.gov.pl/. Applications may be submitted by the Applicant or an appointed representative. After submission, communication with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management takes place exclusively by electronic means, using the email address provided in the application. Correspondence concerning the application will be sent from pme_2@nfosigw.gov.pl. The Applicant should therefore ensure ongoing access to the specified mailbox.
The new edition of the programme offers an opportunity to recover part of the costs incurred for purchasing and installing electricity and heat storage systems, thereby helping to optimise expenditure on renewable energy investments.
